Take a look at what we have been doing and future events we have coming up.
Buckinghamshire Society of Architects actively encourages the membership to attend building visits organised and publicised by RIBA Sothern East Region to review and be inspired by with the work of other distinguished architects.
Our recent visits include the extension to Davanies School in Beaconsfield, Alison Brookes extension to the Exeter College Cohen Quad and the Extension of the Bodleian Library in Oxford and the New Music block to Stowe School in Stowe, Buckingham.
As part of MK50, Milton Keynes 50th birthday was 23rd January 2017 and last year we ran an inter-schools competition with the help of staff and children across the Milton Keynes area, were we asked the children to design their own ‘Missing Building’ on a vacant site within central Milton Keynes, this was completed in collaboration with MK Gallery and the models were exhibited during the whole of June 2017.
This year we are facilitating a ‘young architect of the year award’ which is being run by David Cole, from David Lock Associates.
We also run annual lectures in collaboration with the MK Gallery to showcase architects of distinction the next one is 19th April at 7pm where we are privileged enough to have Ex-county architect John Goold Stewart delivering a lecture on the great Modernist Architect, Alvar Alto.
The committee is also active in local events such as MK Forum and the Fred Roach Foundation.
In the very near future, we will also provide information on events within the neighboring counties of Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire.
